The Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA)
Accreditation by IDEA is intended to assist the general public in the selection of a qualified, professional door systems dealer when purchasing, servicing or installing an overhead door, automatic gate operator, fire door, and other industrial products. Companies earning the Accreditation seal have demonstrated a commitment to industry excellence by completing a demanding study course, documenting good business practices, and receiving recommendations from others with whom they do business.

IDEA Certified Residential Door Systems Technician
The Residential Door Systems Technician Certification is a distinction earned through IDEA’s Residential Installer Training and Certification program, which is designed to give professional door systems dealers an upper hand in the labor market, to enhance the professionalism of the industry, and to create career paths for individuals seeking a rewarding and long-term career.
IDEA Certified Commercial Door Systems Technician
IDEA Commercial Sectional Door Systems Technician Certification is available for qualified individuals. The designation is earned by demonstrating a high level of expertise regarding the products, accessories, installation and servicing methods associated with commercial sectional door systems.
Certified Rolling Steel Fire Door Technician Certification
There are no restrictions on who may install or service a fire door. That does not mean that technician expertise isn’t an essential element of a safely and properly functioning fire door. The Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation has established a program to validate the credentials of individuals who have experience and skills in the installation and service of Rolling Steel Fire Doors.
Automated Gate Operators Installer Technician Certification
The gate operator installer’s knowledge is an essential element of a safe and properly working automated gate system. The Institute of Door Dealers Education and Accreditation (IDEA) has worked with the American Fence Association (AFA), and the Door & Access Systems Manufacturers Association (DASMA) to establish a program to validate the credentials of individuals who have the experience and skills in the installation and servicing of automated gate systems.
